What is il Falconiere?

Il Falconiere is a hotel, 1-Michelin-star restaurant and spa in the Etruscan town of Cortona, in Tuscany. It is in a converted, ancient 17th century villa, owned and managed by Silvia and Riccardo Baracchi. It was founded 25 years ago, and since gained international recognition.

The restaurant
The restaurant is well known for its beautiful panoramic views overlooking the Tuscan hills, as well as being the only Michelin-starred restaurant in the Arezzo area. The cuisine is renowned for its high-quality ingredients, its respect of seasonality, and the use of as many locally produced ingredients as possible. These are guiding principles of all the dishes on the menu. The restaurant is also known for its wide selection of wines, including those from the prestigious label Baracchi.

The spa
The Thesan Etruscan Spa offers a multitude of different treatments, from wellness circuits to wine therapy. The facilities include a sauna, a steam room and a hydro massage pool. Respecting its Etruscan origins, the spa also offers olive oil based treatments, as olive trees have always had an exclusive role in Tuscan traditions.

The hotel
The hotel provides a multitude of different rooms, all beautifully decorated in a typical Tuscan style, to suit all needs. Each room has been individually decorated by local Tuscan artists. Most rooms are found in the main house, near a little chapel and the spa, and there are some cottages for more privacy.

What activities are there?
Il falconiere offers many activities. The most prominent activity is wine tasting, where one can discover the vineyards, the philosophy of production and winemaking techniques. Riccardo and Benedetto Baracchi accompany the guests on the tour, in a true show of Tuscan hospitality. Other activities include falconry, yoga, hunting, golf, mountain biking, trekking and riding.
